The fields planted with Nebbiolo for the production of Barolo wine in the village of Verduno are on the slopes neiboughring the prestigious La Morra. A pedological and geological unity that, departing from Monvigliero's subzone extends in a southern direction, skirting Barolo, until it arrives at the very end of the village in Monforte and including the subzone of Roncaglie, Brunate and Cerequio. The ground lays on the "the S. Agata marl pit" fossils and composition of normal French-lime-clay with an alkaline/sub-alkaline reaction.
In Barolo's interior zone, Verduno's microclimate is distinguished by thermal levels having tendencies of high temperatures around 1600 to 1650 °C; strong thermal ranges with medium precipitation, medium-low around 750 mm per year. Cannubi, situated in the Commune of Barolo, is always situated in the slopes of the Barolo area and is made of the same "S. Agata marl pit" fossils. The composition of the land is softer, French-lime-clay, sandy and alkaline. The microclimate, in comparison with the Verduno areas lands, are breezy and more humid with median thermal level ranging from 1400 to 1450 °C with precipitation of 850 mm yearly. |
