Our company is located in the heart of Verduno's historic center, "the flowered hill", according to Celtic etymology, a locality situated at 380 meters above sea level, located a small distance from La Morra and Alba, and inserted in the Barolo production area. Verduno can be easily reached from Alba (a little more than 10 kilometers, passing by Roddi) or from Barolo, going up to the hamlet of Vergne, and from here to La Morra.
It is worthwhile taking a visit to the village's historic center, which has remained entirely intact, including the original footpath to the key lookout point that offers a spectacular view over looking the Langhe vineyards. But, also, for the Castle, a 17th century Palazzo from the school of the architect Juvarra, which was acquired by Carlo Alberto in 1838, and became the privileged residence and summer vacation spot of the Savoia family; and for the parish church of San Michele, in late Baroque style, which conserves the icon of the blessed Sebastiano Valfre', who was born in 1629, already chaplain to the House of Savoy's court of Vittorio Amedeo II. During the first Sunday in September, the village of Verduno, the capital of Verduno Pelaverga DOC, celebrates its very own country wine by way of a vivacious Pelaverga Festival, which attracts wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs of this unique wine, even from outside the Piedmont region. |
